You find them aesthetically pleasing from head to toe. While some are blessed with what seems to be everything, others must try hard to get into shape and maintain it. You may have tried everything you could possibly think of to help you maintain a good figure, voluminous hair, and shining flawless skin. While you may succeed in managing your figure, unexpected areas of fat can pop up, one common area tends to be right under your chin. Kybella was designed to absorb fat, particularly the fat under your chin, so you don’t have to be slowed down by a double chin.
A POPULAR NON-SURGICAL ALTERNATIVE FOR HANDLING UNWANTED CHIN FAT
WHAT IS KYBELLA?
If a double chin has found its way into your life, then don’t waste your time worrying. St. George Med Spa can help address this condition with Kybella treatments. Kybella is an FDA approved prescription medicine that is used to treat a double chin or the fat below your chin called submental fat. Kybella is made from deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in your body. It is a bile acid that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fats. Since it is a naturally occurring substance in your body, the side effects are very minimal.
When injected beneath your chin,Kybella destroys the fat cells and this results in the reduction of unwanted fullness under the chin. Once the cells are destroyed, they cannot store or accumulate fat, and hence further treatment is not required once you have completed your recommended course of treatment. If you are looking to get rid of this unwanted phenomenon, then Kybella is your ‘go to’ treatment.
Kybella has not only revolutionized the treatment for submental fat, but it has also reduced the need for liposuction, as the treatment can be used to reduce fat in other parts of the body. Kybella can also be an effective treatment to rid yourself of fat in your abdomen, bra line, knees, thighs, and upper arm fat that are otherwise difficult to get rid of.
ARE YOU A SUITABLE CANDIDATE FOR TREATMENTS WITH KYBELLA?
Kybella side effects are minimal and can include bruising, itching, swelling, and redness in the areas being treated. These side effects are common and reduce within a day or two. It is highly recommended that you receive Kybella treatments under an experienced medical professional so as to avoid any possibility of developing an uneven smile, facial muscle weakness, problems at the site of the injection or any other complications resulting from the treatment.
Though the side effects are mile, Kybella treatment is not suitable for everyone. At St. George Med Spa, we will ensure that we review your present medical condition and medical history to determine whether you are an ideal candidate for the procedure.
YOU ARE NOT AN IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR KYBELLA IF:
- You are under 18 years of age
- You have had any cosmetic procedure done recently
- You have an infection, wound, rash or such in the treatment area
- You have breathing problems or asthma
- You take blood thinners regularly
- You have trouble swallowing
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding or want to be pregnant soon
- You have had a facial surgery recently
In addition to the above, your present medical condition and medications are considered to ensure that you are suitable for the treatment. Your first step at St. George Med Spa will be to receive an in-depth consultation where your provider will assist you in determining your exact course of treatment based on your current condition and the aesthetic goals you would like to achieve.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY KYBELLA TREATMENT?
The Kybella treatment usually takes 15 to 20 minutes. At St. George Med Spa, you will first meet our healthcare provider who will review your medical history, any present medical conditions, medications, allergies, and then conduct a physical examination. Based on the fat accumulated under your chin, your healthcare provider will outline a treatment plan that will include the number of treatments you will need of Kybella to achieve the desired results. If you are presently taking blood thinners, you will be asked to stop taking them several days before the procedure.
On the day of the treatment, your healthcare provider will clean the treatment area with an antiseptic or a disinfectant. The treatment area and the injection site are marked. Based on your comfort, the treatment area is numbed using either an ice pack or topical anaesthesia. This reduces any discomfort caused by the injection during the treatment. Kybella is then slowly injected in the marked areas of your chin using an ultra-needle. Post-treatment care is suggested to avoid any side effects. These post-treatment instruction will be gone over with you in detail to ensure you know exactly what to do after your treatment session.
